It Has Begun.

Posted: February 17, 2015 in Uncategorized

My daughter is turning twelve on Friday.  She’s grounded for bad grades on her report card but I’m a softy so I’m letting her have a birthday slumber party anyway.

This could be a mistake. She’s already decided her room must be perfect so she tacked a couple of sheets and a blanket to her ceiling to simulate a canopy style bed.

Then she subscribed to a couple of “do it yourself” bedroom design channels on YouTube.

I am already scared. Her cat, however, is fearless.  She (the cat) climbed the guest mattress my daughter has propped against a wall in her room and proceeded to jump from there to one of the hanging sheets.  Surprisingly enough, neither she not the sheet were damaged in any way.  She actually caught a pawhold on the ceiling fan (which is not being turned on any time soon) and found herself a nice little perch to stare villainous cat glare bullets at everyone in that room.

If the family survives the next full week, I will post again…eventually.  if we all go down in flames, well, don’t count me out until at least 2025.

This week my husband has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

He’s been trying to help me remain calm and collected as I wait for news about a job I have applied, been interviewed, and drug tested for.

He gave me some super epic Game of Thrones themed birthday presents and made super delicious tri-tip for me for my birthday dinner.

He also made beef wellington almost entirely from scratch for me and our daughter for Valentine’s Day dinner and he bought me a bottle of some truly fabulous red wine.

And of course, I’m sure you all can imagine how wonderful sexy time was after our daughter left to spend the night at my sister’s, I mean…the man spent three and a quarter hours making me the best dinner I’ve had in…well, ever.

😉

All in all, this was a wonderful week and I find myself content…actually, more than content. I’m downright happy.

🙂
